Lecture 1 | Programming Methodology (Stanford)

Lecture by Professor Mehran Sahami for a Stanford Computer Science Department (CS106A). In a initial harangue of a quarter, Professor Sahami provides an general outlook of a march as well as starts deliberating mechanism programing. CS106A is an Introduction to a engineering of mechanism applications emphasizing complicated program engineering principles: object-oriented design, decomposition, encapsulation, abstraction, as well as testing. Uses a Java programming language. Emphasis is upon great programming character as well as a built-in comforts of a Java language. Stanford is really cool for uploading all these lectures.

    @GAMERundercover thanks for clearing up that ur not a pro >D pros dont talk shit.

  7. GAMERundercover says:

    @PurpleGoatCraft that kid that said that is gay.

  8. panzerfaust96 says:

    @Aladoniss and PurpleGoatCraft I’m a 15 year old who wants to apply philosophy and artificial intelligence.

  9. joebobjoesayshi says:

    And he says 5-paragraph essays are 70′s education at work? What would he think if he knew they still taught that shit.

  10. PurpleGoatCraft says:

    @Aladoniss ohh. im def. going to be doing this when im older. no doubt about it. i cant see myself doing anything ealse at all.

  11. Aladoniss says:

    @PurpleGoatCraft I’m 14, too. I’m watching these to see if computer programming’s something I’d be interested in.

  12. xylographersbus says:

    @vimorrison one word Cailforina

  13. Ferqan1 says:

    @pker5range Or may be they are jus MIT students :D

  14. Tekkerue says:

    @MyDemonJester,
    No, no previous experience needed. He says the only prerequisite for the class is that you can tell the difference between a computer that is turned on and one that is turned off. If you can do that, then you are good to go. I’m a little over halfway through the series and these videos are incredible and very beginner friendly. This is probably the best place to start as a beginner as you will save yourself a lot of headache later on trying to “unlearn” bad programming habits.

  15. PurpleGoatCraft says:

    how old are all of you.. im 14.. is that normal.. i only ask because im watching a video about a collage course :3

  16. vimorrison says:

    Why he speaks so fast?

  17. Illidan1337OG says:

    free stanford courses
    god bless america

  18. MyDemonJester says:

    im in Gr 12 and i’ve been freaking out because i thought people needed previews work with java and C++ ( experience).
    I wonder if i actually need previews experience to do good on this course?

  19. nahonix13 says:

    ha i dont even have to go to Stanford! Just visit youtube!

  20. yoyaya007 says:

    @darkinvader00 no that s when the teacher is mastered , better than good .

  21. Ferqan1 says:

    Is this for bachelor students or for master students…?

  22. Tekkerue says:

    @ttabbachino,
    That could be, but I wonder how much of it is simply Mehran. :-) I’ve peeked at the videos for the two courses following this one and they all have different teachers so it’ll be interesting to see how well they compare to Mehran.

    Also, I will say that the Harvard course was equally as good, just different. He taught C so he goes a lot more in depth into the details of memory and what’s really going on under the hood at a low level. It is a great compliment to this course.

  23. ttabbachino says:

    @Tekkerue remember too that Harvard is strong in the business, law, medical area compared to Standford where its mostly science, math and engineering. not saying Harvard is bad but Standford is the science school thats why they teach you how to be a better programmer

  24. marazali1905 says:

    good teacher

  25. nyanmiaw says:

    a school that is actually good, could use that over here XD
